Connections

Connections in groups of people there are weak links and strong links.  

The fewer the steps from any person to any other person the stronger the links.  In a group of close friends any person can easily speak to anyone else in the group. 

The cohesiveness of an organization, community or governance is measured by the number of steps required for any to any direct communication. In organizations where it might take 3,4 or 5 steps to get from the shop floor to the CEO lacks the coherence to respond quickly to opportunities and challenges.

Making Connections between people is the necessary, but not sufficient, first step to move to Collaboration.  The source of Connections are in the fields of weak links,.
