Declaration of Intent:
Create a crowd sourced database for democratic action. The data will be shared across groups who may have different agendas that sometimes overlap and other time compete for attention and votes. Acess rules and workflow design will need to support transparency and openness and at the same time control access to provide private spaces for individual and group for sensitive information.
Looking at the DNC scandal about the breach of privacy, the most important point to be made is that the responsibility for the problem is with the DNC and their leadership. Very likely at the core of the problem is staff incompetency at the IT leadership level. The Open Canvas Database will adress these issues at all phases of the project from design and implementation to operational security and social architectures.
The technical components will be designed and built in open and tranparent ways and therefore will use exclusively open source software internally. Likewise we will adopt and develop open social architures for both the stewards of the databases and processes as well as the peer production networks (the crowd in crowd source).
